I grew up in the Forest Lake area on an old Christmas tree farm that included a lot of playing outside in the woods. I loved being able to run, climb trees and build things in our backyard. While I didn’t play sports past elementary school, I’ve always had a competitive edge with a love for being active and learning anything new. CrossFit was the perfect fit for me! However, a lot of the gymnastics skills took (and still take) a lot of practice and drills for me to nail down. Ultimately, I think that’s an advantage in my coaching because I’ve watched every video and tried every drill in the book! I also love that my endurance, strength and skills from TLF is transferable to other things I love - hiking, hunting, surfing, snowboarding, etc.! I love this community and being part of this team.
Prior to joining Thousand Lakes, I lived a lot of life in a comfort zone and felt like I was just going through the motions of the typical rat race - home, to work, to back home again. My love for trying new things was really overshadowed by the fear of judgement or failure. Honestly, one day I was just so sick of it I sent an email to Bethany to join the gym before I could change my own mind. I couldn’t be more glad I did. What started out as a fitness journey has really become an overall lifestyle journey - learning new things, completing hard tasks or talking myself through difficult situations just continues to get easier, because I do at least one (if not all) those things when I step into the gym as an athlete or coach.
My motivation to coach really came from a place of wanting to help others reach their potential and goals. If you’re here to learn bar muscle-ups, I am so excited to provide advice and drills. If you’re here to strengthen your mental toughness, let’s brainstorm a phrase you can tell yourself in the middle of the workout - I’d be happy to shout it out during class, too. If you’re here to shake off some stress and be a part of a great community, I’ll be ready with a smile and some good tunes.
