Fitness and health came to me later in life. I hated gym class, used asthma as an excuse to skip out on physical activity, quit softball after slow-pitch changed to fast-pitch, and got into fights with my parents about exercising when I was in junior high. I was a band kid and in high school, joined the Marching Band which I continued into college. Although I stayed active and tried to eat well, I gained and lost the “Freshman 15" just about every year. It wasn’t until after college, along with my now husband, that I realized I couldn’t keep doing what I was doing and that there had to be a better way to stay in shape, let alone be healthy. After a brief stint as a raw food vegan, my husband came across a website that eventually led us to Paleo, functional fitness, and CrossFit. After hemming and hawing about it, I had a conversation with a co-worker who told me CrossFit was crazy and to just run and do yoga. Her advice solidified my decision. I started CrossFit later that month. I fell in love with CrossFit. I fell in love with being strong and physically capable. I dove in to learning about biomechanics and started to be able to see human movement on a whole new level. I tapped into some sort of latent athleticism and a desire to help others do the same. I got my CrossFit L1 in 2014 and started coaching that year. I worked as a CrossFit Coach for 6 years at Tangletown CrossFit in South Minneapolis. I now have my L2, am a certified personal trainer, nutrition coach, and I am in training to become a Health Coach. As a CrossFit Coach, I love helping people learn how to move more and move better both in and outside the gym. I love helping people make progress towards their goals. I love helping people to make fitness and nutrition work for them. Most importantly, I love helping people to feel better about themselves, their health, and their ability to make positive change in their life. I moved to Linwood in September 2020 with my husband and daughter. We hope to someday live on our own farm and to create a self-sufficient homestead.
